Tamar and Tavy Gig Rowing Club was formed in 2004 on the banks of the River Tamar at Weir Quay. We row three boats – Ginette (b. 2004) and Tamar (b. 2008), our two traditional wooden pilot gigs for racing, and Belinda O’Flynn (b. 2010), our glass fibre boat for training. We have worked hard as a club to build up our squads and now have a membership of over 130. Not bad for a club run entirely by volunteers!
We are always keen to welcome new rowers, whether to keep fit, compete or just enjoy the tranquillity of the River Tamar. All new rowers get 3 free taster sessions – so come and join us and give gig rowing a try.
